Gyeonju was the capitol of the Kingdom Silla from 57 BC to 953 AD. It is surrounded by beautiful hillsides and temples. This city contains the first observatory in Korea and the oldest in all of Asia. This is the Cheomseongdae Observatory that was built in 634 AD. Gyeonju is also home to the Anapji pond, the Pulguk Temple, and Sŏkkuram
Seoul was the capitol of the Joseon Dynasty. When King Taejo took power, he changed the capitol to Seoul when it was originally Gaegyeong. In Seoul, Taejo constructed the Gyeonbuk Palace, finished in 1395, and the Changdeok Palace, finished in 1405.
