The values in an ancient Korean society was a continuous cycle of taking care of its elders. Children were essentially in debt to their parents, they clothed and took care of them when they were young. The children worked off that debt by taking care of their elders, mourning them after they had died, and continuing the family line. Post death, the men are still worshipped by their family in accordance with the rest of the ancestors. Also, the practice of Confucian, to live in peace and harmony, was important to ancient Korean family values.
